Elysia, Sculptural Vase
The Elysia Sculptural Vase draws inspiration from the intricate forms of botany and mycology in a nature. Crafted from rough, speckled stoneware clay using a combination of wheel-throwing and hand-sculpting techniques. This piece showcases the raw, natural beauty of the material, unglazed to highlight its organic, earthy aesthetic. Elysia’s form embodies the complexity of the natural world, while the raw clay symbolizes a return to simplicity and authenticity.
Elysia draws its name from the Elysian Fields, a paradisiacal realm in Greek mythology associated with the afterlife, where heroes find eternal peace. The reference to the Elysian Fields connects the themes of life, death, and rebirth with the cycles observed in mycology. Fungi, crucial decomposers in nature, transform organic matter into new life, symbolizing the eternal cycle of life and death. This piece serves as a tribute to this transformation, capturing the essence of growth, decay, renewal, and the interconnectedness of life.

Care instructions
Ceramic tableware and cookware is safe to use in the microwave, dishwasher and oven (as long as you avoid thermal shock—never put hot ceramics on a cold surface). When removing a hot dish from the oven, place it on a wooden surface, towel or hot-pad to cool down. Do not use ceramic vessels on the stove-top as it heats up too fast and will crack.
